These are a few stills I pulled from video Wes and I shot at Ruckus Film today. I didn't know what to expect when I walked in today, but I was truely moved by the stories these guys had to tell.
We host the Childress family reunion every year out at my mom's farm. It's basically a huge pot luck dinner with about 200 family members. My buddy Ed always comes with his mom (that's him in the shades). That's my sister Dr. Pepper's husband with the gizmo. He cut his ligament trimming cow feet.
I was waiting on crew to arrive for a video shoot and decided to take a walk. The air was thick with the sound of bird calls as I made my way south of downtown. I shot some video of the bird madness, but here are some images I found.
These are a few stills I pulled from video I shot with Ruckus Film Crew for Josh Thompson.
Every Sunday my mom, granny, sisters and I try to get together at my mom's house. Well, this particular Sunday my mom wanted us to get rid of some bees for her. I got some spray and there literally hundreds of bees swarming around. We got the bright idea to make a fire to smoke them out. We built the fire and totally forgot about the bees, it was weenie roasting time!
Rych and I shot a wedding up in Hopkinsville today. I had never been there before but it is a really remote beautiful place. That's Rych laying in the street to shoot the bridal party and yes there was a male bridemaid.
Derrick and I shot Found Movement's modern dance show today at Ingram Hall. It was basically the story of life thru all it's stages, ups and downs. Here are some images.
Every year my family gathers together for family vacation. This year we went down to Savannah, GA and I loved it. These are a few found images I took on the trip. It's a great place even if Derrick tells you it's not.
Patrick and Wes come down from LA for a shoot last Thursday. We went into the Wedgehill Market to get some ice cold beverages and I happend to see some free passes for amature wrestling. They were in town for night, so it was my job to provide some hardy entertainment. I took them to all the hot spots and then to wrestling. Words cannot describe the scene you, just have to go and see for yourself. Thursday night at the community center on Varitas. Well I guess I do have one word, WOW!
This is a link to my old website. The music is a beat I made based on my favorite scary record as a kid, "Where is my golden arm."
Im in the process of making a new site. I want the site itself to be an interactive work of art that all people can enjoy. We lived out in the country away from everyone, so needless to say I've got a special place for video games. I see them as interactive art. The new site will be based on that idea.
Joel Hood is many things. Photographer. Artist. Musician. Super awesome.
Joel was born on July 13, 1980, the youngest only boy of six. He was brought up by his mother Jean, and father Bobby. Being an avid picture taker, Jean passed this hobby onto Joel which quickly became an obsession. Little did he know that one day it would become quite a lucrative career.
On a late summers day in August, Joel discovered a priceless collection of negatives that his late grandfather had taken. He was a pilot and amature photographer during and after WWII. Joel had never met the man but his images gave Joel a glimpse into his life and his family's past. It was this event that showed Joel how valuable and important photography is to the legacy of mankind.
After high school, Joel attended Middle Tennessee State University where he double majored in Recording Industry and Photography. There he learned all the basics he needed to begin his world domination.
His multimedia company, Evol-E, which consists of screen printing, pattern making, wolf hunting, and crochet is the first step in this process. On his down time Joel enjoys playing drums, bass, technology, & video games... and eating diamonds. Raw. He eats raw diamonds. For kicks.
Diamond hijinks aside, he is always on his best behavior during a photo shoot. His photographs are timeless. They transcend age and race. Space and nothingness. Law and order. Yes, Joel Hood is a master of his craft. A talent beyond his years, he is undeniably one of the best.
He currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee with his hot girlfriend Emily.
